KEE Philippine Missions

Bring the Word
within reach.

KEEPM is a growing Christian ministry focused on helping people in the Philippines hear and learn Scripture through digital audio devices, Bible learning, and personal relationships.

The vision of Ken and Mary Lou Engle

A prayer that led
back to the Philippines.

Ken Engle’s connection to the Philippines began during World War II. While serving overseas, he prayed that God would allow him to return as a gospel messenger and help establish local churches. After the war and his studies at Moody Bible Institute, Ken returned with Mary Lou in 1951. Together they encouraged local churches, and four of their six children—including Kevin—were born in the Philippines.

Ken’s radio ministry grew to more than a thousand programs. His Bible teaching and devotional recordings can still be heard online through a 24-hour stream and audio archives. As the family traveled, they also carried recorded messages to people who did not have access to a radio.

A BIBLE THAT TRAVELLED

Ken’s Tagalog Bible

Ken received a Tagalog Bible when he arrived in the Philippines in 1951 and used it while preaching in Tagalog. Years of use wore its cover away; Fortunato Gonzal later had it rebound in carabao hide. That well-used Bible is a family reminder of the work of sharing Scripture.

THE MESSAGE CONTINUES

From radio to digital audio

KEEPM carries the family’s vision forward by helping people hear Scripture and Bible teaching through solar-powered audio devices, learn the Word, and share it with someone else.

Why this work

Scripture can travel
where access is hard.

Many people encounter barriers to reading or accessing Scripture. Audio devices offer another way to hear the Bible and Christian teaching, including in places where electricity or internet access may be limited.

The ministry is being built around a simple pattern: share an audio messenger, encourage Bible learning and Scripture memory, and help each recipient pass the opportunity to someone else.

OUR FIRST MILESTONE

1,000 digital messengers

Begin with a practical first goal: place 1,000 audio devices with listeners in the Philippines.

OUR LONG-RANGE VISION

One million listeners

Over time, grow the work through local relationships and repeatable ways to share Scripture.

How the program grows

Every step points to the next listener.

Participants can complete Emmaus Worldwide’s What the Bible Teaches course or memorize 60 selected Scripture verses. The program framework recognizes learning and memory with additional digital messengers for sharing. See the Digital Messengers page for the current tracks.

KEEPM is in an early stage. Local ministry relationships, device availability, verification, and distribution timing will shape how the program develops. Devices are distributed as funds become available.

Our approach

Personal. Practical.
Rooted in Scripture.

The ministry aims to work alongside people and churches in the Philippines, respecting local knowledge and building relationships over time. Each messenger is meant to be a starting point for listening, learning, and sharing.

This site will grow as plans are confirmed. For now, the first focus is the digital messenger program and the people who will help put it into practice.

The vision of Ken and Mary Lou Engle

The message keeps
travelling.

Ken and Mary Lou Engle’s years of ministry in the Philippines are the roots of this work. Ken shared Bible teaching over the radio in Manila; their burden for the people and churches of the Philippines continues to shape KEEPM today.

Carrying the vision forward

Kevin’s part
in the work.

Kevin grew up in the Philippines and spent twenty years as a lay preacher. After a career in mortgage lending, he has begun a new season of ministry in the country where he was born.

KEEPM carries Ken and Mary Lou’s vision forward through digital audio Bibles, Bible learning, Scripture memory, and relationships built over time. Kevin plans to develop this long-term work as local partnerships and funds allow.

Kevin’s own recorded Bible messages include Daniel 5, Romans 5 (Parts 1 and 2), and Romans 8. His ministry page and recollections share more about his personal background and teaching.
